Carina de Rooij was born in Oud Gastel, Holland, in 1963. She studied at
'De Academie voor beeldende vorming', Tilburg.
“I make abstract work which has been built up by realistic forms.
If you look at my work you will recognize that piece of realism.
That’s why you get the feeling you’re going to see its meaning in no time and that will cause a certain thrill. However, that moment does not come because the painting is totally abstract after all. It’s exactly that thrill that I’m trying to call up and hold on.”
